The origin of the Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz lies in Andalusia, specifically in the area of Cádiz and Jerez de la Frontera, where it was bred to control rodents in wine cellars. The breed arose from crossing English terriers with local dogs, producing a fast, resilient and extremely efficient dog.

In 2000, it was officially recognized as a breed by the Real Sociedad Canina de España, preserving its historical and functional value.
